Events
The Donna T Darrien Foundation has sponsored various events to foster its mission.
Blood Drive - This event is held on Saturday, September 16th to promote the need and to gain blood donations because sickle cell disease patients frequently need blood transfusions. To learn more click here.
Fashion Show and Raffle - This fundraising event is held the second Saturday in February promoting its theme "Its a Love Affair."
Scholarship - Established in 2001, The Foundation awards book scholarships to college students living with sickle cell disease. Awardees are honored at the Fashion Show.
Health Fair - The Foundation sponsors and/or participates in community health fairs to bring more awareness to the disease.
Walk for Sickle Cell - In continuing the mission, the Foundation, collaborates with other organizations in the community, and spearheads a walk in Newark's Weequahic Park. This is an annual event, held in September, that focuses on raising funds to promote research and finding a cure.
